| The Wiener Linien is the partially-privatized company that runs Vienna’s Public Transportation, which includes 5 subway (underground) lines, trams, buses, and night buses that run in the small hours when the other means of transportation have closed for the night. Vienna’s Public Transportation is excellent and will take you anywhere in Vienna you want to go. Single tickets cost €1.70, but weekly, monthly and yearly passes are available, as well as 24 or 48-hour tickets. Students can purchase Semester Cards at the beginning of every term at student-friendly prices. For detailed information of different lines, prices or route planning, visit www.wienerlinien.at (site available in English), or visit any of the information booths located at all major underground stations, e.g. Karlsplatz. Tickets can be bought from ticket vending machines at all underground stations or in the respective tram or bus, from any newsagent or directly from information counters. |
