The Vienna City Hall was completed in 1883. The City Hall was built in Neo Gothic style being modelled after the Gothic city hall in Brussels. The facade of the building faces the Ringstrasse and between Rathaus and the Ringstrasse is the City Hall Park where different kinds of activities, festivals and organizations takes place during the year. Vienna Eis-Traum, the open air ice-skating hall, Christkindlmarkt, Vienna Bike Festival are only a few of them.
Rathaus houses balls organized annually like the Life Ball, which is one of the biggest AIDS charity events.
