| Driving and parking in Vienna can be a hassle. Often, taking public transport and even bicycling, is faster than taking your car. Traffic tends to heavy and sometimes chaotic and parking can be a headache, as in any major European city. If it can’t be avoided, make sure to purchase some Parkscheine (pre-paid parking vouchers) from any news agent and don’t forget to fill out the time and date before placing them on the dashboard of the car. This is a necessity as most streets in the inner city of Vienna are Kurzparkzonen (short-term parking zones). The vouchers allow you to park in these zones for a maximum of two hours. There are also a number of parking garages throughout the city but these tend to be quite pricey. |
