| The Austrian Film Museum is located in the Albertina, at the south end of the Hofburg. It is an exhibition space where retrospectives and film screenings are held, but it also serves as a platform for public debate, discussions and lectures. Its archive contains over 22,000 films, spanning from 1893 to today, and is divided into four collections: international heritage of independent, avant-garde and non-industrial film; avant-garde and independent film in Austria since 1950; film exile: the transnational film oeuvre of Central and Eastern European émigrés; and films from Soviet Russia made between 1918 to 1945. Furthermore, the film museum Screenings of various films are held daily and single tickets cost €5.50; annual membership is €12. |
